digitally by telephone by one person for communication with another
person. |

that automatically answers incoming calls and directs the callers to
the appropriate extensions without a human operator’s assistance. |

 |
Fax Detect, Routing and Notification - Unified
Messaging automatically detects a fax tone when it answers a call,
transfers the call to the fax machine and notifies the receptionist

Connecting to existing telephone
systems, Unified Messaging is used throughout the world in virtually every
type of business, both large and small. Automotive dealers, universities,
financial institutions, real estate agencies and software manufacturers
are just a few of the organizations that use voice mail and automated
attendant to improve the quality of messaging and increase productivity.
Retailers, banks, airlines, radio and television stations, and other
companies use Unified Messaging’s audiotext feature to provide timely
information, even after hours. Service organizations such as libraries,
hospitals and government agencies use audiotext as a tool to help them
fulfill their public responsibilities while reducing costs.
The Unified Messaging system offers many
features, including answering calls on the first ring and transferring
them immediately, playing a personal message when the subscriber is not
available, taking messages in the caller’s own voice, and notifying the
subscriber when new messages have been received. In addition, Unified
Messaging provides group messaging, day and time stamping of all messages,
message archiving, message redirection, user-changeable voice prompts,
call screening, caller interviewing, message editing, complete port
independence, volume control and more.
With Unified Messaging, individual users
have a choice of three user interfaces: one visual and two audio. In the
office, Unified Messaging users with the TeLANophy feature package can
access all their telephone and fax messages on screen through their
networked PC using a graphical user interface (GUI). Unified Messaging
also has two audio interfaces for subscribers accessing messages via
telephones: it’s unique 1 for Yes, 2 for No interface and
menu options. Using the 1 for Yes, 2 for No options, users
control all functions by responding to simple yes-or-no questions.
Subscribers who prefer to press specific keys to access certain features
can use the menu options. With the TeLANophy feature package and the
copyrighted 1 for Yes, 2 for No interface, it provides
several choices for individual subscribers in one system that no other
voice processing company can offer.
Although the technology behind the
Unified Messaging system is extremely sophisticated, users find it
intuitively easy to use. Even first-time users listen to messages, leave
messages, redirect messages and perform all functions easily. Experienced
users find they can access even the most advanced features quickly and
efficiently.
Unified Messaging is currently available
in 4 to 60 port configurations with up to 585 hours of storage. Because
the system comes in a variety of port and storage sizes, Unified Messaging
can be tailored to fit the varying needs of individual businesses. As a
company’s needs grow, it’s easy to add optional feature packages,
additional ports and more storage capacity. In addition, Executone is
committed to continually improving its systems to offer its customers the
latest advances in computer and voice processing technology. By
specifically designing its systems to be expandable, Unified Messaging can
easily incorporate new features, additional ports, more storage capacity
and larger, faster platforms.
Unified Messaging offers add-on feature
packages, as well as option packages that help ensure peak performance.
The feature packages available for Unified Messaging include TeLANophy and
Active Fax. Peak performance option packages include Tape Backup, E-Mail
Integration and ActiveNet networking.

TeLANophy. TeLANophy
connects Unified Messaging to your local area network (LAN), providing
a communication pathway between Unified Messaging and workstations
attached to the LAN. TeLANophy is the first system to provide complete
call management and unified messaging. By joining Unified Messaging’s
voice processing feature with LAN capabilities, TeLANophy lets users
control all their calls, voice mail, e-mail and fax messages from a
networked PC or any telephone. |
| |
Active Fax. This feature
package includes both fax mail and fax-on-demand. Fax mail gives
subscribers total control over when and where they receive incoming
faxes. Fax-on-demand allows subscribers to send, and outside callers
to request, documents from a fax library simply by pressing a few
buttons on their telephones. |
| |
Tape Backup. Executone’s
foolproof Tape Backup package minimizes the possibility of lost
messages by automatically making a backup recording of all system
messages. |
| |
ActiveNet. This
multi-site messaging package for Unified Messaging is ideal for
companies that communicate via long distance with regional offices,
vendors or customers who have their own voice mail systems. ActiveNet
allows users to send, redirect, delete, skip, save or reply to remote
messages quickly from any touchtone telephone. Features include
private messages, return receipt, and group messaging. Urgent messages
are sent immediately, while non-urgent ones are sent when long
distance rates are lowest or at any scheduled time. For TeLANophy
users, ActiveNet can take advantage of many features of the ViewMail
module. For communications between systems using Unified Messaging 7.4
or higher, PlusNet makes many of Unified Messaging’s powerful
subscriber-to-subscriber messaging features available for remote
sites. With PlusNet’s enhanced networking, advanced features such as
unlimited number of messages per call, unlimited number of recipients
per message, unlimited message length, time stamps, and message
announcements using the sender’s voice name are available. PlusNet
adds an enhanced level of security and system management, with
features such as automatic synchronized directory updates between
sites. When communicating with other voice mail systems from other
manufacturers, ActiveNet uses the AMIS analog protocol.
